Reliance Invests in Netmeds
Are we going to see disruption in the e-pharmacy sector as well, as it happened with the telecom sector?
Amazon acted as a catalyst for this when they decided to delve into the pharmacy sector as well with Amazon pharmacy. Now there are several small e-pharmacy startups like 1mg, midlife, etc.
Seeing the waves coming, Netmeds decided to sell its shares to Reliance Retail, which led to reliance presence in the e-pharmacy sector.
Presence of giants like Reliance and Amazon, who have lots of cash to invest, I am foreseeing the condition of e-pharmacy to be similar to that of the telecom sector.
Though Pharmeasy and Medlife merged, I don't think it would be much use unless we see some significant investment to support these startups.
